Matthew has been playing the piano since he was nine years old. For six years he played under the guidance of Martin Smutný at the Elementary School of Arts Žerotín in Olomouc. In September 2023, he joined the piano class of MgA. Hana Dvořáková at the Grammar and Music School of the City of Prague.


In the 2022/23 school year, he was a member of the prestigious scholarship program of the MenArt Academy, where he studied piano under the guidance of Czech pianist doc. Ivo Kahánek (HAMU, Prague). He graduated from the Academy with a performance at the Church of St. Simon and Jude as part of the Prague Spring Festival 2023.


Matthew also gains experience at master classes under the guidance of prominent Czech teachers (Ivan Klánský, Ivo Kahánek, Karel Košárek, Jan Bartoš, Alena Vlasáková, Inna Aslamas).


He considers his greatest piano achievements to be the 3rd prize at the Prague Junior Note (2021), the Gold Medal in the national piano competition Pianoforte per tutti (2021, Polička), Honorable Mentions of the 1st grade in the international competitions Bach Way (2021, Dobřany), the Gustav Mahler Prize Piano Competition (2021, Prague) and Beethoven’s Teplice (2020).
