Recorder

"The recorder is the instrument where I have gone beyond my own imagination. With its beautiful tone and technical abilities I feel that it is a part of me now."

Matthew began playing the recorder at the age of six at the Elementary School of Arts Žerotín in Olomouc under the guidance of Světlana Pačanská and then Božena Klepšová. For one year, he was taught modern recorder techniques by Professor Jitka Konečná at the Conservatory of the Evangelical Academy in Olomouc. Matthew currently takes recorder lessons with a professional recorder player, professor Michaela Koudelková.

Matthew also gains experience at master classes under the guidance of prominent Czech and foreign pedagogues (Bart Spanhove, Anna Stegmann, Dorothee Oberlinger, Meng-Heng Chen, Annabel Knight, Drora Bruck, Regina Himmelbauer, Doris Kitzmantel).

Matthew is the recipient of several prizes from international competitions, such as the 1st prize at the Tel Aviv Recorder Competition (2020, Israel), 3rd prize in the category of Israeli compositions and the Special Award for the interpretation of modern compositions at the Tel Aviv Recorder Competition (2019, Israel). He also placed in the top 10 at the International Competition Open Recorder Days Amsterdam (2019, Netherlands).
